I have had 3 misscarriages. No one can tell me why--one in 2003 one in 2005 and one last week. Clomid did not work for me. I was on Depo for 3 years until 2002... I bcame pregnant 6 months after comming off, but lost that baby at 7 weeks. I became pregnant again after trying Clomid- 2 months after coming off- but I lost it 5.5 weeks. This time I took Tromifen and Prometrium and this lasted till 5.5 weeks, when I had bad pains on my right side and spotting. Then the ultrasound showed nothing but some mass on the left side---I have been spotting for about a week but no blood clots or anything like that--it is bright red as of two days ago. What is happeing to the babies and what can I do now?? I am 27 yrs old and this is very hard to go through..My husband is begining not to even want to try. When should I stop bleeding?

Unfortunately, your situation is a complex one and there is no simple answer that we can offer. The work up required in your case is too complicated to get into all of the specifics in this forum, but our physicians can offer you the following advice on some steps you should take with your local medical care providers to figure out what is causing your problems.

-See your OB/GYN for a miscarriage work up, including testing for a uterine anomaly with a hysterosalpinogram, genetics/karyotypes on both parents, blood work, a thrombophilia work up to look for a predisposition to clotting, and possibly other tests. There may be a necessity for treatment before and/or during the next pregnancy in order to be successful.

-Get a consultation with a Reproductive Endocrinologist to further explore the best course of action.

-You may also want to read the book A Woman Doctor's Guide to Miscarriage by our renowned Obstetrician and Gynecologist Dr. Lynn Freidman, which can be found on Amazon.com or at Barnes and Noble.

We are sorry for the pain you and your husband have endured and we wish you all the best for success and good health in the future.
