My husband and I have been married for nearly four months and are having sex without any protection. I am wondering why we aren't pregnant yet. What can we do to increase our chances of becoming pregnant?
The average couple takes between three and six months to conceive. Timing of intercourse and frequency is important. You should be having intercourse every two to three days (once only) starting four days before you think you are ovulating (usually mid cycle or 14 days prior to the onset of the next menstrual cycle) and going one to two days past ovulation. If you are not pregnant within one year of trying appropriately then you should seek consultation with a Gynecologist or Reproductive Endocrinologist. Having intercourse too frequently may lower a man's sperm count.
