What can I do to lengthen my luteal phase? PDF Print

I had a miscarriage back in Oct 2006. Once HCG was out of system and my period began again, I was back at 28 day cycles. The last two cycles I tried to conceive my luteal phase was short (less than 11 days). What can I do to lengthen my luteal phase and have success conceiving?

I carried a successful full term baby boy back in Oct 2005.

The best treatment for a short luteal phase is usually Clomiphene citrate or Clomid (brand). The Clomid is taken from day 5 through day 9 of the cycle and generally works very effectively. Speak with your OB GYN about prescribing this or a similar medication. If a short luteal phase is the reason for the miscarriage, this will be easy to correct. A short luteal phase is usually a luteal phase shorter than 11 days, so you are correct in assuming this could be a problem. Good Luck.
